Like many ceramic sculptors, so much joy is found in using a handmade object in every day use, that it becomes really important to incorporate a thread of functional work along side the sculptural pieces. Not to mention, they are much easier to sell! I build my cups and bowls out of thin slabs of porcelain clay and use templates that I've designed to cut out the shapes. I fire to Cone 10, primarily in a reduction atmosphere, but sometimes in oxidation. I put all my glazes in slip-trail bottles to get all my lines and dots. Oh, how I love dots!
